Starting the house 20/5/08

Today we started off our house by setting up our profiles and boxes for concrete. We first made up our profiles on each corner out of two little frames for each corner and we put some bracing on it for support. Next we got onto the boxing we started by getting the shutters and finding the right measurements to nail them into the ground we used Pythagoras (3 4 5) for squaring the corners and once string lines were up we measure diagonals to make sure the build was completely square. We then added on the braces and cleats so it will make it stronger for when the concrete is poured we also placed plastic on the ground so the concrete wont stick to the ground.
After that we started pouring the concrete. I learnt how to make concrete the old fashion way in a wheel borrow and in a concrete mixer after each load was made we poured it into the boxing and then levelled it.

The next day when the concrete had hardened we took apart the boxing where i learnt that if the concretes green u got to be extra careful taking them apart otherwise the blocks could fall to pieces. We then made sure all the bricks where all that right level so the bears would sit right and hold the house. We made the bearers double sided then set them up.
